Troxler's Fading

Troxler’s effect is a striking visual illusion in which details in your peripheral vision gradually fade when you fix your gaze on a single point. When the eyes remain relatively still, the brain begins to suppress unchanging signals, causing surrounding colors, shapes, or objects to disappear from awareness. This happens because perception is adaptive, not photographic. The visual system prioritizes change and motion; information that stays constant is treated as low priority and filtered out.
