F1 today | Wolff furious at Mercedes engine speculation, as Ferrari shock paddock with upgrade
As ever, here are the main stories from today, 19 February. Toto Wolff slammed the speculation surrounding the Mercedes engine 'loophole,' despite accepting the FIA's proposal of a mid-season change on how the F1 2026 cars' compression ratios will be measured.
The final Bahrain test saw Mercedes continue to set the pace, by topping the times on Friday courtesy of Kimi Antonelli.
The compression ratio controversy will be addressed with a new test, but not until August. Until then, Mercedes F1 can ruin its power unit as currently set up.
F1 has overhauled its car and engine designs for the 2026 season, placing a greater emphasis on energy management.
